RadFxSat-2 is scheduled to launch later this year on the ELaNa XX mission aboard Virgin Orbit’s LauncherOne air-launch-to-orbit system. The satellite carries a 30 kHz wide V/u linear transponder and radiation experiments for Vanderbilt University’s Institute for Space and Defense Electronics.

RadFxSat-2 / Fox-1E Flight Model Arrives at Fox Labs for Testing

On March 31st, the RadFxSat-2 / Fox-1E flight model arrived at Fox Labs in Granbury, TX where it will undergo testing prior to launch later this year on the ELaNa XX mission aboard Virgin Orbit’s LauncherOne air-launch-to-orbit system. RadFxSat-2 carries a 30 kHz wide V/u linear transponder and radiation experiments for Vanderbilt University’s Institute for Space and Defense Electronics.

RadFxSat (Fox-1B) Gets the Official OK for Flight

The RadFxSat (Fox-1B) Mission Readiness Review was held Saturday morning, April 29th, at the Cal Poly campus in front of a board representing Tyvak, Cal Poly, and NASA.
The purpose of the review is to verify that all requirements are met for a safe and successful launch and deployment. Vice President Engineering Jerry Buxton, N0JY, presented 81 PowerPoint slides covering all of the ICD (Interface Control Document) requirements, mission, operations, and deorbit.
At the conclusion of the presentation including questions answers, the panel unanimously approved RadFxSat as ready for flight. The next milestone will be integration into the P-POD with launch scheduled NET (No Earlier Than) September 23, 2017 aboard a Delta II at Vandenberg AFB.

RadFxSat Vibe Testing

RadFxSat underwent vibration testing for two of the three axes on Monday, October 10 at NTS in Boxborough, MA.

The X and Z axis were tested.  The Y axis will be tested on Tuesday.
