Monday, 19 OCT: Tour of the National Museum of the United States Air Force

AMSAT has arranged a tour of the Air Force Museum. A chartered bus will pick up our group at the hotel, departing sharply at 0900. Upon arrival at the museum, we will be split into several groups and be matched with a docent assigned to each group who will conduct a walking tour of the museum, highlighting key areas of the museum, answering questions, and providing an overview of what the museum has to offer. This session will last 90 minutes. We then break for lunch using the dining facilities at the museum (lunch on your own).

After lunch, you are free to walk the museum, see an IMAX film (check movie times and prices at the theater), as well as visit the extensive gift shop. We are also arranging for an afternoon tour of the offsite Air Force Museum Annex where the Presidential aircraft and other pieces are on display; details will be provided once our schedule for visiting the Annex is confirmed. The visit to the Annex will require using a bus to access the facility departing at a specified time (to be determined) and foreign nationals will need to have their passports with them for identification to visit the Annex.

We will re-board our bus at 1615 for the trip back to the hotel, arriving by 1645.

Individuals planning to take the tour and flying to Dayton should schedule their departure by air for evening or the next day. The hotel does provide a shuttle service to the airport which can be used once the bus returns to the hotel. However, actual shuttle availability cannot be guaranteed immediately upon arrival of the bus back at hotel.

Cost to ride the bus round trip is $15.00 per individual. Individuals boarding the bus at the hotel are expected to return to the hotel on the bus. Seats are limited to 45 individuals. Admission to the Air Force Museum is free. Attendees do have the option of driving their private vehicle to the museum in lieu of taking the bus.

Reservations for the bus, along with other activities at the Symposium, can be made at the AMSAT Store. Note that all activity reservations will close at 1900 EDT (2300 UTC) October 8th, 2015.
