Date: Mon, 13 Mar 1995 18:11:39 -0600 (CST) From: David Liberman Subject: UNAMSAT-1 To: amsat After many days of trying to make a small space in the launch campaign of UNAMSAT-1 I managed to get to the KBD. It is a great pleassure to anounce that in just a few hours from now the UNAMSAT-1 team is departing on its way to Moscow and then on to the Cosmodrome of Plesetsk in preparation for the launch. The window for the launch starts at 05:00 UTC on the 28 of march and closes at 10:00 UTC. We are also pleased to know that in this launch we will achieve in a minor scale a repetition of the launch on Ariane in january 1990 with microsats plus two sats from Surrey. In Start-1, name of the rocket that is lanching us we have another small sat made by the TECHNION from Haifa in Israel and a russian communications satellite. We have received from the University of Moscow a lot of cooperation in many areas, including some analysis of the dynamics of the separation. We have also received a State Vector but TECHSAT has published a set of preliminary keplerian elements. For the time being we will use theirs and eventually we will have our own keplerian. If I would have to thank the Amsat members that helped us this message would be several pages long, so to all of you THANKS A LOT!!!!!! I am trying to have an account from the University of Moscow to keep you all posted of our progress during the last days of the launch campaign and inmediately after. The expected temperature in Plesetsk is -20C so we will be able to do a low temp additional test of our sat. For personal use we intend to keep our own survivability based in the local heat producing destilled substance generally known as VODKA. For all of you who are asking were to listen for UNAMSAT-1 here is a freq table: TX1 * default * 437.135 MHz TX2 437.179 MHz Telemetry will start 20 min after separation. If the software survived the launch it will be normal telemetry otherwise it will be in MBL. The Rx freqs are: Channel A 145.922 MHz Channel B 145.942 MHz Channel C 145.962 MHz Channel E/F 145.872 MHz (Channel D is non-existant) The receiver will be closed for other use than commanding but we will let you know as soon as it will be opened. My best regards and hope to type to you from Plesestk or from Moscow. Hasta la vista or maybe Dosvidanya David XE1TU UNAMSAT-1.
