SB NEWS @ AMSAT $SPC0605 * SpaceNews 05-Jun-95 * BID: $SPC0605 ========= SpaceNews ========= MONDAY JUNE 5, 1995 SpaceNews originates at KD2BD in Wall Township, New Jersey, USA. It is published every week and is made available for unlimited free distribution. * AO-10 WORKING WELL * ====================== Dave, G1OZO reports that AO-10 is working well. He made 45 contacts between 04-May-95 and 30-May-95 that included the USA, Ukraine, Finland, Canada, Italy, U.K., Holland, Spain, Czechoslovakia, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Austria, and Saudi Arabia using just 25-watts of uplink power. Dave has been active on satellites since 04-May-95. It sure sounds like he is having quite a good time in his new activity. * HS2JFW ON AO-13 * =================== James Tudehope, KL7QR, of Valdez, Alaska worked Joe, HS2JFW, from Bangkok, Thailand at 21:20 UTC on 20-May-95 on AO-13 on a downlink frequency of 145.868.250 MHz. Joe was on CW and James could copy him at 529. KL7QR often works Carl, VE8CF, from Inuvik, North West Territories. Carl is located on the north slope of the North West Territories. James has worked Inuvik on AO-10, AO-13 and FO-20. He always enjoys listening to Carl complain about the weather up there. Usually James will have QSOs with people down south who always tell him how beautiful their weather is. James finds it nice to work Carl in Inuvik who seems to always have weather worse than he does in Alaska. :-) * TRACK SATELLITES ON THE WWW * =============================== A new web page will allow users to determine when certain selected spacecraft will be in range for visual observations or for radio communications. Data are presently provided in tabular form for 36 major cities in the United States and for four different satellites: the current or upcoming Space Shuttle Mission, the Russian Space Station Mir, HST and UARS. The predictions are calculated every night for 6 days in advance, and even more often during shuttle flights. The URL is: http://ssl.berkeley.edu/isi_www/satpasses.html Suggestions are most certainly welcome. Enjoy, Manfred Bester --- W6/DL5KR manfred@ssl.berkeley.edu * SpaceNews BBS DOWN * ====================== Mario, KD6ILO, reports that his SpaceNews packet radio BBS is down due to a fire in his apartment on 16-May-95 that was the result of arson. He lost all his equipment to fire and water damage. The fire is still under investigation, and Mario will inform us when he is able to serve the Pacific Northwest with SpaceNews and other Amateur Satellite news and information. * STS-70 PRE-LAUNCH KEPS * ========================== STS-70 1 99970U 95160.80510237 .00017899 00000-0 55675-4 0 123 2 99970 28.4680 279.2253 0016417 154.9557 205.1895 15.89705110 219 Satellite: STS-70 Catalog number: 99970 Epoch time: 95160.80510237 = (09-Jun-95 19:19:20.84 UTC) Element set: 012 Inclination: 28.4680 deg RA of node: 279.2253 deg Space Shuttle Flight STS-70 Eccentricity: .0016417 Prelaunch element set JSC-012 Arg of perigee: 154.9557 deg Launch: 08-Jun-95 13:26:00 UTC Mean anomaly: 205.1895 deg Mean motion: 15.89705110 rev/day Gil Carman Decay rate: 1.7899e-04 rev/day sq NASA Johnson Space Center Epoch rev: 21 [Info via Gary Morris, KK6YB] * FEEDBACK/INPUT WELCOMED * =========================== Mail to SpaceNews should be directed to the editor (John, KD2BD) via any of the following paths: FAX : 1-908-747-7107 PACKET : KD2BD @ KS4HR.NJ.USA.NA INTERNET : kd2bd@amsat.org -or- magliaco@pilot.njin.net SATELLITE : AMSAT-OSCAR-16, LUSAT-OSCAR-19 MAIL : John A.
