All being well Dove Listeners on 145.825 MHz may find their favourite
satellite more OFF than ON during the first week of October. Controllers
hope to get all of the digital voice software uploaded, and then start
testing it. Just what we will hear I do not know. Will Dove need to be
taught to speak ? Will it start with simple phrases like a human baby ? It
should be interesting to listen to. Remember that this will happen when
Dove is in range of its ground controllers. Dove is concurrently in range
of UK, and , its controllers on the second half of orbits occuring between
1300 and 1800 ut, and again for almost all of the orbits in range of UK
between 2300 and 0120 utc. I doubt whether we will hear a replay of Arthur
Clarke's celebrated start up of HAL in Odyssey 2001, but it could be fun.

Once Dove is word perfect, the LAP1 Language Arts Program 1 can start. So
hopefully before long we will be able to hear digital voice of School
childrens messages, Amsat voice news bulletins and, voice telemetry, in a
variety of languages. Douba Outra . Da .

Uosat3 is still testing a mix of bulletins and telemetry. Trouble is , I
can get rid of the binary by commanding my TNC 320 to BUDLIST OFF;  LCALLS
UOSAT3-11 ( when the TNC excludes anything addressed to UOSAT3-11 ). But
that gets rid of both telemetry I do not presently want , and bulletins I
do want. After lots of trials I must conclude that MYCALLS setting has no
effect on a TNC 320. I hear stories it used to work selectively on some
older TNCs and may work on some none Paccom TNCs Eg allowing you to select
only bulletins by going to either BUDLIST ON ; LCALLS QST-1. or perhaps
BUDLIST ON ; LCALLS UOSAT3-11 ;  MYCALL QST-1 . But this is just theory ,
with no way I can test it.

0920 8 Oct to 1110 8 Oct Both mode JA and mode JD together
0825 11 Oct to 0850 12 Oct Mode JD digital store and forward
All times are UTC. Fuji will be turned off even at these special times, if
further problems occur.

Oscar 13 is seeing poor sun angles on its solar panels . So S band
operation is presently OFF. Mode B, J and L operating continues.

The first draft of the Dove Operating Manual is now being checked by
GM4JJJ, GM4NUU, GM7FMA and G3ZCZ/W3. Publication is planned for end of
