Ham ingenunity was alive and well as usual. During the convention, the following message was uploaded to the KITSAT-OSCAR-25 satellite from WB6LLO: We are transmitting from the Hanalei hotel in San Diego at the AMSAT convention site......We are using homebrew quadrifilar antennas, fixed EL at 45 degrees, and rotating with a U 100 rotor... Cost for the entire antenna system, about $55..... Bob, WB4APR, had trouble transmitting APRS packets out of his hotel room during the Convention, so he took a few helium balloons from some nearby decorations and used them to support his J-pole transmitting antenna 14 feet above his balcony and above the hotel roof. * FEEDBACK/INPUT WELCOMED * =========================== Comments and input for SpaceNews should be directed to the editor (John, KD2BD) via any of the paths listed below: WWW : http://www.njin.net/~magliaco/ PACKET : KD2BD @ N2SMV.NJ.USA.NA INTERNET : kd2bd@amsat.org, magliaco@email.njin.net SATELLITE : AMSAT-OSCAR-16, KITSAT-OSCAR-25 <<=- SpaceNews: The first amateur newsletter read in space! -=>> <<=- Serving the planet (and beyond) since 1987 -=>> /EX
