Due to problems in transfer, no attempt was made to save messages prior to the shutdown. The system has been functioning since Saturday evening, Dec. 23. The Satellite Gateway Node was featured in the premier issue of CQ/VHF Magazine. Unfortunately, Mr. Murphy must have read the article, because the system failed the week that the magazine hit the newsstands! WD4ASW apologizes to those who attempted to dial-in (904-396-7114 8-N-1) and were unsuccessful. (The system was also discussed in the '95 AMSAT PROCEEDINGS in a paper entitled, "Developing and Utilizing Satellite Gateway Nodes: a Sysop's Perspective") The SATGATE Node allows users to access KO-23 via a packet bulletin board. Complete instructions are available on the system--type 'I' at the prompt. First time users have read only capability--leave a message for the sysop if you want full access (which includes the ability to request files and upload ASCII files). Please include in the message your name, call, and phone number. If your address is not valid in the '94 callbook, please provide WD4AS W with an update. Arrangements will then be made to provide you with an initial password for modem access and subsequent full privileges. Users who connect via packet radio in North Florida via the Rose Network have automatic full privileges because you are connecting via amateur radio. However, if you later want to dial-in, then separate authorization is required. ANS thanks Barry WD4ASW for this bulletin. /EX SB SAT @ AMSAT $ANS-363.04 SAT DX-PEDITION INFORMATION HR AMSAT NEWS SERVICE BULLETIN 331.01 FROM AMSAT HQ SILVER SPRING, MD DECEMBER 29, 1995 TO ALL RADIO AMATEURS BT BID: $ANS-363.04 DX pedition information.
