Satgen176 Satellite Review by GM4IHJ 9th August 92 RS10/11 is operational with orbits roughly 105 minutes apart in a 17 hour window presently opening for UK around 0750 ut, closing after midnight at around 0100 ut, each orbit EQX being 26.5 degrees approx west of its predecessor. The CW beacon is on 29.357 MHz with CW/SSB qsos in the 40 kHz band above the beacon. Uplink is on 145 MHz. Simple antennas can be used. RS12/13 is operational , orbits 105 min apart present window 1100 through midnight to 0320 ut approx, orbit separation 26.5 degs. CW beacon 29.408 with CW/SSB qsos in 40 kHz band above beacon. Uplink 21 MHz. RM1 is operational, orbits every 105 mins in window presently 1900 through midnight to 1240 ut approx, each successive orbit 26.3 degs further west. Downlink 1 min telemetry, 9 minute FM repeater 145.987 approx. Uplink 435.016 MHz Uosat 2 Oscar 11 has not been heard recently. I hear third hand report of UofSurrey having staff problems during present very heavy workload. Dove Oscar 17 has not been heard recently. No further details available. Pacsat and Lusat have had some problems in last few months. Fuji Oscar 20 is operating. See Jamsat bulls for JA/JD schedules Uosat 5 Oscar 22 is operational on 9600 bps store and forward , and, on picture transmission. Oscars 10 and 13 are operational but please check G3RUHs excellent schedules for complete details. SARA Oscar 23 is sending repetitive telemetry which does not accord with recent HF action from Jupiter. So it has a problem. KITSAT A is due to launch from Kourou at about 2345 ut on 10th August 92. It should appear in range of UK about 10 minutes after launch and it will pass across Northern Scotland ie north of UK stations. It should thereafter come in range of UK on 4 more orbits, each roughly 112 minutes apart before going out of range until about 2000 ut approx. It shifts 28.3 degs further west each successive orbit. Kitsat will copy Uo22 in most of its functions. Uplink is 145.85 and 145.9, Downlink is 435.175 MHz. Readers who want news of other satellites presently building should consult G3RWLs Amsat UK Colloquium 92 notes. The only update necessary on these notes concerns SEDSAT. This American satellite is planned to occupy the "Tether Dead Weight" position on a second tethered satellite test which is much more ambitious than the test which failed just this week in the Space Shuttle. In view of the failure of the Italian test in Atlantis this week , it is most unlikely that SEDSAT can meet a 1993 launch date. Until NASA specialist work out why the Atlantis test failed to unreel , plans for SEDSAT must be temporarily put aside. 73 de GM4IHJ @ GB7SAN
