*Expedition 11 Gets to Work*
Expedition 11 is back on the job after several days of light duty. On
Sunday, the previous resident crew – Expedition 10 – exited the
International Space Station and departed in a Soyuz spacecraft for a
landing in Kazakhstan. Expedition 11 Commander Sergei Krikalev and NASA
ISS Science Officer and Flight Engineer John Phillips will live and work
on the Station until October.
In preparation for STS-114, the Shuttle’s Return to Flight, Phillips
worked on a hatch inside the Unity Node. The hatch will be opened when
Space Shuttle Discovery delivers the Raffaello Multi-Purpose Logistics
Module for cargo transfers. Krikalev worked on a Russian water supply
system and checked out computers. Both crewmembers exercised, continued
their ISS familiarization tasks and set aside time for relaxation as
they adjust to their new home in space.
