As the launch time for the next Station crew draws near, the current
crew spent the day packing items for the journey back to Earth and
preparing the Station for the arrival of its next residents.
On Thursday at 8:46 p.m. EDT, Expedition 11 Commander Sergei Krikalev
and Flight Engineer and NASA ISS Science Officer John Phillips will
launch from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, aboard a Soyuz rocket for
their 6-month stay on the Station. Their spacecraft is scheduled to dock
with the Station on Saturday at 8:19 p.m. EDT. Visiting crew member and
European Space Agency Astronaut Roberto Vittori will ride with
Expedition 11 and stay on the orbiting complex for eight days before
returning home with Expedition 10. Live coverage of the launch will be
available on NASA TV
<http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/MM_NTV_Web.html> beginning at
8:00 p.m. EDT.
Aboard the Station, Expedition 10 Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight
Engineer Salizhan Sharipov continued maintenance activities, including
preparing and packing items for the return to Earth. Both crewmembers
also completed their usual 2.5 hour exercise regimen.
