spacewalk

the Expedition 10 crewmembers enjoyed a well-deserved day of light duty.

Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer Salizhan Sharipov began the 
week with physical exercise, verifying their fitness for the upcoming 
spacewalk. Throughout the remainder of the week Chiao and Sharipov 
engaged themselves with a review of procedures, followed by a meticulous 
checkout of the Russian Orlan spacesuits and the tools they will use 
during the spacewalk. Thursday, the crew donned the Orlan spacesuits for 
a successful dry run.

This week, ground controllers in Russia commanded the Station to reboost 
to a higher altitude to accommodate the arrival of the Expedition 11 
crew aboard the ISS Soyuz 10 in April.

On Friday, a thermal control loop panel providing cooling to the Pirs 
airlock failed, and a redundant system assumed the load. The crew will 
troubleshoot the pump panel on Saturday and replace one or both pumps, 
allowing the spacewalk to proceed as scheduled.

The Expedition 10 crew's spacewalk is scheduled to begin Monday at 12:25 
a.m. CST (0625 GMT). Live coverage will be available on NASA TV

Sunday (0500 GMT Monday).
