* ISS Crew Observes Russian Holiday*
Expedition 10 Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer Salizhan
Sharipov received a break from their busy work schedule Wednesday as
they observed Russian Defenders Day aboard the International Space Station.
With the departure of the ISS Progress 16 cargo ship from the Station
set for Sunday, oxygen from the Progress continued to be used to repress
the Station's atmosphere Wednesday. The transfer of oxygen is reducing
the Progress to the desired mass for undocking.
Progress 16, which will be filled with unneeded items from the Station,
is slated to undock from the aft end of the Zvezda Service Module at
10:05 a.m. CST (1605 GMT) Sunday. After leaving the Space Station, the
Progress will be commanded to burn up harmlessly in Earth's atmosphere.
A new cargo ship, Progress 17, will launch from Baikonur Cosmodrome in
Kazakhstan on Monday and arrive at the Station on March 2.
