ARISS Event Notice -- Thursday Feb. 10 Mount Prospect Elemetary School, Illinois USA

ISS astronaut Leroy Chiao of  Expedition 10 aboard the
International Space Station picked the next school
contact: Fairview Elementary School in Mount Prospect,
Illinois, USA.  This contact will take place on Thursday,
10 February 2005. The event is scheduled to begin at
approximately 17:58 UTC.

This contact will be direct between stations NA1SS and
AJ9N. It should be audible to anyone in most of the US
mid-west and eastern states as well as parts of south
central Canada listening in on the 145.80 MHz downlink.
The participants will conduct the conversation in English.

Fairview Elementary School is located in Mount Prospect,
Illinois, 22 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. One of
three schools in Mount Prospect School District 57,
Fairview School educates 625 students in grades
kindergarten through five. According to results released
by the Illinois State Board of Education, 83 percent of
Fairview School students met or exceeded state standards
measured by the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT)
in 2004.

Please note, the amateur equipment on the ISS will be
turned off prior to the beginning of the contact. It will
be returned to service as quickly as possible.

Students will ask as many of the following questions as
time allows:

  2. Is it always dark in outer space?
  3. Can you see the constellations?
  4. Do you miss your family?
  5. Do you ever want to take a trip to the moon?
  6. What do you miss most about being at home?
  7. Is it hard to sleep in space?
  8. How do you take baths without floating in the air?
  9. What are some of your discoveries this mission?
10. What weather observations have you seen from space?
11. What was the funniest accident or moment that has
happened to you in space?
12. What is the food that you miss the most?
13. Is Neptune really blue?
14. Did you ever bring an animal with you?
15. How many times in one day do you pass over Mount
Prospect, Illinois?
16. What is one thing you've learned being up in the space
17. How big is the space ship?
18. Can you see rain or snow from space?
19. How does it feel to exercise in space?
20. What activities do you do on your free time?
21. What is the first thing you are going to do when you
get home?
