* Expedition 10 Begins Week With Noise Readings, Spacewalk Preps*
Expedition 10 Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer Salizhan
Sharipov kicked off a new week aboard the International Space Station
with a wide range of activities. They took routine sound measurements to
record noise levels in various parts of the Station.
In preparation for their Jan. 26 spacewalk, the crewmembers installed
software into ISS computers for an experiment they will attach to the
outside of the Space Station. The experiment, called Rokviss, will test
a prototype for manipulator hardware that could assist in future ISS
assembly work.
Over the weekend, the crew transferred water from the Progress 16
spacecraft to the Station and worked with the Elektron oxygen-generation
system. The Elektron has been functioning well since Saturday.
