* Expedition 10 Prepares for Progress Activities*
On Monday, the Expedition 10 crewmembers prepared for this week's
Progress cargo ship activities at the International Space Station.
Flight Engineer Salizhan Sharipov removed unneeded electronic equipment
from the ISS Progress 15 spacecraft, which is currently docked to the
aft end of the Zvezda Service Module. The equipment will be returned to
Earth at a later date for use on a future flight. Progress 15 is slated
to undock at 1:34 p.m. CST (1934 GMT) Wednesday and then be commanded to
burn up in Earth's atmosphere.
Progress 15's departure will set the stage for the arrival of Progress
16. The new cargo ship and its load of food, fuel, clothing and
equipment are scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan at 4:19 p.m. CST (2219
GMT) Wednesday. It will dock to the aft end of the Zvezda Service Module
at 6:04 p.m. CST Saturday (0204 GMT Sunday). In preparation for Progress
16, Commander Leroy Chiao and Sharipov conducted a test of a docking
system on the Station.
In other activities Monday, the crew participated in Russian biomedical
experiments and performed maintenance on Station systems.
