* Science Experiments Kick Off New Week on Space Station*
A new week began on the International Space Station with a focus on
science. Expedition 10 Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer
Salizhan Sharipov worked with several biomedical experiments.
Chiao used ISS ultrasound equipment to scan Sharipov for the Diagnostic
Ultrasound in Microgravity (ADUM) medical experiment. ADUM seeks to
better understand the ability to quickly and remotely transmit medical
data from the Station. The application may also offer benefits on Earth,
allowing for much quicker injury diagnosis for patients at remote
locations by doctors based at hospitals.
Sharipov participated in Russian biomedical experiments and a heart
assessment. Chiao assisted Sharipov during these activities that are
studying the changes in the human body during space flight.
In other activities, the crewmembers oversaw other science experiments,
maintained ISS operations and performed their daily exercise regimen.
