* Expedition 9 Prepares for Upcoming Handover Activities*
The Expedition 9

time on the International Space Station is winding down, and they 
continue to prepare for the handover activities with the Expedition 10 
<http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/station/crew/exp10/index.html> crew.

Expedition 10 Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer Salizhan 
Sharipov are scheduled to launch from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan 
on Oct. 13 and arrive at the Station on Oct. 15 to begin their six-month 
stay at the orbital outpost. Expedition 9 Commander Gennady Padalka and 
NASA ISS Science Officer Mike Fincke will leave the ISS and return to 
Earth on Oct. 23. Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Shargin will travel to the 
Station with Expedition 10 and return to Earth with Expedition 9.

In other activities Monday, Padalka and Fincke worked with some of the 
experiments aboard the ISS, performed their exercise regimen and 
maintained Station systems. They also held a news conference.

On the ground Monday, NASA officials held briefings highlighting 
Expedition 9 activities and previewing Expedition 10.
