* Crew Studies Vibrations in Soyuz, Inspects Station's Exterior*
The Expedition 9 crew did a structural dynamics test Thursday inside the
Soyuz spacecraft docked to the International Space Station. Using the
U.S. Internal Wireless Instrumentation System, Commander Gennady Padalka
and NASA ISS Science Officer Mike Fincke collected data of the impact
vibrations from ISS operations on the Soyuz. Padalka and Fincke are
scheduled to return to Earth next month aboard the Soyuz.
Fincke took video and still images of the Station's exterior for a
routine inspection. He also checked out the Station's food warmers.
On the science front, Padalka participated in two Russian biomedical
experiments. He also followed up with US engineers about Wednesday's
session with the Advanced Diagnostic Ultrasound in Microgravity (ADUM)
experiment, which is studying the ability of Station crewmembers to
perform advanced ultrasound examinations after using a computer-based
training program. This experiment could have widespread applications in
emergency and rural healthcare situations on Earth.
Also, Fincke downlinked more still images
