* Station Crew Completes Communications Check*
Expedition 9 Commander Gennady Padalka and NASA ISS Science Officer Mike
Fincke continued to prepare for their departure from the International
Space Station and their return to Earth. They completed the final
two-way radio checks with a VHF system in the ISS Soyuz 8 spacecraft and
U.S. ground sites. Padalka and Fincke are slated to return to Earth
aboard the Soyuz on Oct. 18 after handing over command of the ISS to the
Expedition 10 crew, which will arrive at the orbital outpost on Oct. 11.
In other activities, Fincke took part in a routine hearing assessment
and checked the airflow between the Station's U.S. and Russian segments.
Padalka began work to replace ventilation equipment in the Russian
segment. Both crewmembers monitored science operations, maintained ISS
systems and conducted their daily exercise regimen.
Late Tuesday, Fincke captured still images
