* Space Station Crew Performs Maintenance, Takes Water Samples*
On Wednesday Expedition 9 Commander Gennady Padalka spent a large part
of his workday performing maintenance on the Russian Elektron oxygen
generation system aboard the International Space Station. The Elektron
remains offline and flight controllers continue to assess the situation,
but there is no impact to Station operations.
Meanwhile, NASA ISS Science Officer Mike Fincke conducted a routine
analysis of water on the ISS. This test is performed monthly with the
water microbiology kit. He also deployed two passive atmosphere monitor
assemblies and recharged U.S. spacesuit batteries.
On the science front, Padalka participated in a Russian medical
assessment, and both crewmembers monitored other ISS experiments.
