RE: ISS Repeater Operations?
For what it is worth, I run a TinyTrak in my truck on the packet uplink
frequency 145.99. I'm using a 5W HT going into a mag mount whip. The
position beacon is every 2 minutes. It usually gets at least one successful
position packet in on each pass. I live about 50 miles outside of DC.

Scott,
Living near DC, it is very difficult to get in to the ISS packet relay with
only
5W. I took a Kenwood D7 and Arrow antenna out to Hawaii with me a couple of
years ago thinking I would have a chance for a real two-way conversation via
ISS. Unfortunately, on pass after pass, all I saw were my own packets
coming
back down.
Guess if I make a return trip I'll need to drop a message in here to try and
schedule a contact.
