* Expedition 9 Continues Spacewalk Preparations*
Expedition 9 Commander Gennady Padalka and NASA ISS Science Officer Mike
Fincke began the new workweek aboard the International Space Station by
preparing for their next spacewalk. They gathered equipment that will be
used during the Aug. 3 excursion. They also prepared for a spacewalk
practice session that will take place Tuesday.
The spacewalk objectives are the deployment and retrieval of experiments
on the Russian segment of the Station and outfitting of the Zvezda
Service Module

with navigation aids for next year's maiden flight of the European
Automated Transfer Vehicle cargo ship.
On July 28, NASA officials will discuss the upcoming spacewalk during a
briefing

that starts at 10 a.m. CDT (1500 GMT). Then at 1:45 p.m. CDT (1845 GMT),
the ISS' next crew, Expedition 10 Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight
Engineer Salizhan Sharipov, will preview its six-month stay in space.
Both briefings will air live on NASA TV

In other activities Monday, the crewmembers participated in a Russian
biomedical assessment. They recorded their body mass and calf volume
measurements for this experiment that is studying changes in the human
body during space flight.
