* Station Crew Continues Progress Loading, Preps for Arm Work*
Wednesday aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 9 Commander
Gennady Padalka and NASA ISS Science Officer Mike Fincke continued to
transfer unneeded items to the ISS Progress 14 cargo ship. The Progress
is scheduled to undock from the Station on July 30 and re-enter the
Earth's atmosphere where it will burn up. Its departure will set the
stage for the arrival of Progress 15, which will deliver supplies and
equipment in mid-August.
In preparation for Thursday's work with the Station's robotic arm,
Canadarm2, the duo reviewed software that will be used during the
operations. Padalka and Fincke's objective Thursday is to move Canadarm2
to its viewing position for their next spacewalk, which is slated for
Aug. 3.
In other activities, Padalka performed routine maintenance on the
ventilation system in the Station's Russian segment. Fincke took noise
level measurements throughout the ISS.
