Science Officer Mike Fincke works with the Extravehicular Mobility Unit
(spacesuit) in the Quest Airlock. *
The Expedition 9 crew's work schedule Wednesday included a wide range of
tasks. Commander Gennady Padalka and NASA ISS Science Officer Mike
Fincke participated in an on-orbit hearing assessment for the first
time. This assessment is performed monthly on the ISS and tests efforts
to reduce noise.

Fincke completed the charge/discharge session with batteries associated
with the Extravehicular Mobility Units (EMUs) onboard the ISS. EMUs are
U.S. spacesuits. Fincke also powered up the Microgravity Science
Glovebox in the Destiny Laboratory Module for a check of thermal sensor

Meanwhile, Padalka replenished water in the Russian Elektron oxygen
generation system and performed maintenance on the ventilation system in
the Pirs Docking Compartment.

On the ground, the Station's previous crew is continuing its
readaptation to gravity in Star City, Russia. Expedition 8 Commander
Michael Foale and Flight Engineer Alexander Kaleri returned to Earth on
