*March 10,2004
Expedition 8 Commander Michael Foale and Flight Engineer Alexander
Kaleri continued maintenance Wednesday on the International Space
Station's Treadmill Vibration Isolation System.
They are replacing failed gyroscopes in the system that dampen
vibrations from the treadmill. The maintenance, which began Tuesday, is
slated to continue Thursday.
Kaleri also replaced parts on a water processor in the Russian segment.
On the science front, Foale prepared for an upcoming session with the
Foot/Ground Reaction Forces During Spaceflight
</station/science/experiments/fact_foot.html> (FOOT) experiment. During
the session, he wears a special pair of instrumented leggings that allow
researchers to measure forces on the feet, joint angles and muscle activity.
