Crew Starts Week With U.S., Russian Science Activities
Expedition 8 Commander Michael Foale and Flight Engineer Alexander
Kaleri kicked off the new week by working with U.S. and Russian science
operations. Foale continued work with the Cellular Biotechnology Support
System Fluid Dynamics Investigation (CBOSS-FDI). CBOSS-FDI is growing 3D
cells for research.
Both crewmembers prepared for upcoming runs of the Russian Miscible
Fluids in Microgravity experiments, which will study the interaction of
fluids that completely dissolve in water. These investigations will use
water and honey.
In other activities, Kaleri removed unneeded instruments from the motion
control system in the Zarya Control Module. Foale and Kaleri also
performed their daily exercise routine and monitored ISS systems.
