A six part history and evaluation of the Space program

For all its popularity and achievement, the space shuttle has never
delivered on NASA's brazen and misleading promise that it would make
access to space affordable, safe and routine. As NASA and Congress
wrestle with the future of the space program in the wake of Columbia's
demise, this is becoming harder to ignore.
