Flow Liner Crack Repairs Begun on Atlantis
At Kennedy Space Center, Fla., welding repairs on liquid hydrogen flow
liner cracks in Space Shuttle Atlantis' Main Propulsion System were
scheduled to begin Friday. Workers have completed polishing the rough
edges in the downstream flow liner holes and continue to polish the
upstream holes. The holes are being polished to prevent future cracks.
Following completion of the repair work and polishing, Atlantis' engines
will be installed.

Atlantis and its crew are slated to launch no earlier than Sept. 28 to
begin their journey to the International Space Station. STS-112 will
deliver and install the S1 (S-One) Truss onto the orbital outpost.
