Re: "It's the antenna, stupid!"



I am sometimes able te send APRS to PCSAT with my 5 watts TH-D7 and rubber
duckie antenna. However, I tried numerous times with ISS, but it never
worked.

I am now using an ARROW antenna + 5 watts TH-D7. With this equipment, I have
talked with Valery on the ISS. However, on Packet, still with an ARROW
antenna and a 5W handheld, I have never succeeded, even when ISS is visible
and straight above my head (clear sky, antenna directed towards ISS). I am
no specialist, but I feel that reception of Packet on the ISS probably
requires more power. What a shame!  But I keep trying! :-)
