NASA TELEVISON TO BROADCAST MEMORIAL DAY MESSAGE
FROM INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION CREW

On Thursday, May 23, 2002, NASA Television will
broadcast a message from the Expedition Four Crew aboard the
International Space Station in which the crewmembers will
give their thoughts and feelings as the United States
prepares to observe the Memorial Day holiday.

This message from space is being sent as part of the White
House Commission on the National Moment of Remembrance,
established by Congress, honoring those who died for the
nation. Americans are invited to spend a moment of
remembrance on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2002, at 3 p.m.
local time.

The desire behind this observance is to remind all Americans
of both the momentous sacrifices made for their freedom and
what it means to be an American. It will provide Americans
throughout the world an opportunity to join this expression
of gratitude in an act of unity. The observance is also
designed to make Memorial Day relevant, especially to younger
Americans.

The crew's Memorial Day message will be shown as part of the
daily NASA Video File on Thursday at 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9
p.m. Eastern. NASA Television is broadcast on GE-2,
transponder 9C, C-Band, located at 85 degrees West longitude.
The frequency is 3880.0 MHz. Polarization is vertical and
audio is monaural at 6.8 MHz.
