Hi Arthur,

You don't need a receive pre-amp to increase the audio, use the "volume"
control (it may be labeled "vol" or "VOL" on your radio) to increase the
audio (and noise) level.

A receive pre-amp would most likely improve the signal to noise ratio of the
received FM signal.

Hi - I made contact with AO-27 for the first time - it seemed to be much
lower in audio than UO-14. I am using an HT and a dual band Cushcraft
270-10. Does anyone know if I also need a receive pre-amp? Would
