First of all, thanks to those who have responded so quickly to my query.
The sound card here is a Ensoniq Soundscape VIVO Wave table Sound Card 
............... whew .
The radio is an all mode FT290 Yeasu.
Antenna is a copper pipe J pole 25' up.

Did not hear any packet today during my moble travels, and the computer
didn't pick up any
sstv either.
