Hi Ed,
I use an Olympus VN-120 digital voice recorder.
Easy to operate,  runs on 2 AAA batteries, audio files can be uploaded to 
your PC.It has a tiny red LED which comes on when recording, handy when 
working AO-51 in the dark.
