Cross Yagi Mobile

If you are bored, check out my new sat receive antenna assembly on my truck.
It consist of two 4 element yagis with coaxial switching and a rotator. The
angle for elevation is fixed at 25 degrees and works AOS/LOS full quieting
after 2 degrees of elevation. I use a ARR receive preamp on the yagis. The
rotator was originally used on motorhomes for TV arrays. I up link on the
whip. At the moment I track the birds analog style. However you can do this
blindfolded as the yagis are very forgiving as to where you point them. The
yagis are the same build as the yagi plans on my webpage times two. I work the
sats under way with someone else driving or if you are brave enough, by
yourself. I prefer to work the lower passes looking at the pass perpendicular
with the antenna tracking over the roof from AOS to LOS. For straight overhead
passes I position the truck facing AOS and track the bird from there around
to the rear at LOS. Sorry for rambling on, however I am pleased with how it
all works. Now for a computer interface with the rotator.
