CEPT UWB Decision Announced + New UWB Consultation
ECC Decision of 24 March 2006 On the harmonised conditions for devices using
Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology in bands below 10.6 GHz
The European Radiocommunications Office (ERO) http://www.ero.dk/ have now
published their decision on UWB below 10.6 GHz.
The original plan to use UWB across 3.1-10.6 GHz posed a potential threat to
our 5 and 10 GHz Satellite Allocations and not unsuprisingly the
consultation attracted responses from a number of Radio Amateurs.
The decision to permit UWB in the 6-8.5 GHz range does I believe meet the
concerns that were expressed.
Unfortunately ERO have announced another consultation process to consider
allowing the use of UWB between 3.4-4.8 GHz. This poses a threat to the 3.4
GHz Amateur Band as well as potentially impacting on Radar and WiMAX.
Responses to the consultation must be sent to Fatih Yurdal Email:
yurdal@ero.dk by May 29th.
