Hi Kyle, K0KN
I am using the same antenna but before to buy a new relay I suggest to
check the following:
1) Check the VSWR when relay is powered ON for LHCP
2) " if the voltage across the coil is at least 12 volt DC
3) " if the RCA plug connector used for 12 volt DC is rusty
4) " if the coil resistance is 140 ohm
If the above are OK you are lucky because you probably have only
moisture between the contacts or accumulated water condensed in to
the plastic cover or the contacts are burned expecially if the relay
has been operated "while speaking" but everyting is not lost.
To clean the contact remove the silicon all around the plastic cover
and rise it.
Inspect and properly clean the contacts after that check if there are
bad soldering points between the relay terminals and the copper
strips over the PCB.....this is very important.
Remember that is much better to clean a rusty relay like that instead
to solder a new one over an old and oxidated PCB
At the end I suggest to double protect the relay in to an additional
plastic box against the water and moisture like I did in both my
KLM 2M-14C and 2M-22C
In a separate email I have sent to you few pictures showing how the
relay contacts looks like after removing the plastic cover and how to
adapt to it an additional plastic box.
Have fun and 73" de
i8CVS Domenico
