Re: bugs bugs everywhere bugs
There are no browser related bugs for any of the supported
browsers. IE 6.0, 5.5 and 5.0 work perfectly. Konqueror 3.3 works
100% as does Safari, which is based on the Konqueror
codebase. Mozilla, Firefox, Opera and Netscape 7 and 8 all work
100%. Netscape 4.7 works but doesn't render the same as CSS
compliant browsers.
I recently rolled out a stealth upgrade to all of the satellite
status pages after previewing them to the board and
officers. However I wasn't happy with the way frequencies were being
displayed in the satellite catalog page, and spent yesterday
redesigning it. Some of you may have noticed a temporary reference
in red that the data was erroneous. It wasn't so much that it was
erroneous - just very confusing.
Last night and today were spent re-entering the frequency data from
scratch as it was apparent after the first attempt to fix it inline
that it would be faster to enter it from scratch rather than try to
modify and reformat the existing data. (tnx Bill VE7WFG for
volunteering to help.)
This was corrected as of 2pm Pacific time today (Monday) and the new
display routine was rolled out. I'm pleased that it handles 99.9% of
the permutations of satellite frequencies correctly. (AO-40 being the
one that comes to mind that could use some special
processing.) Obviously there may be some typos since most of the
data was entered by hand. If you find any please submit a bug report.
The bug report page is and has been working perfectly since the site
went live. However we recently tightened up site security which may
impact some users. If you have Norton or some other software based
internet security software enabled and have not entered AMSAT.ORG as
a trusted site you may not be allowed to submit a bug report. This
is because some internet security software blocks URL Authentication
information, without which we can't determine that the POST request
originated at AMSAT.ORG. This is a security issue to prevent
spam-bots from trying to use AMSAT.ORG to relay spam.
When this happens you are redirected to a page that displays the
following error message:
----------------
Unauthorized
We have detected that you are trying to use the AMSAT
website in a way it was not designed to support.
We regret that due to abuses we can no longer honor requests
from outside the AMSAT domain. This includes our contact and bug
forms and other areas where malicious intent may occur. You may also
see this warning if you are using Anti-Virus, firewall and privacy
programs such as Norton Internet Security that prevents us from
determining where the request originated (URL Authentication). If
this is the case, please refer to your anti-virus or privacy program
for instructions to allow AMSAT.ORG to detect this information. This
may be as simple as adding AMSAT.ORG to your list of trusted sites.
