Hi Luc,
The real test will be on a weak SSB/CW signal. With FM (like SO-50) once you get to full quieting it's hard to really notice much more improvement without test gear. With the example Hasan mentioned that extra 2.5 db of noise makes a world of difference on SSB satellite signals, even more so on weak signal terrestrial.
