The erratic nature of the signal may be due to the disconnect being partial,
and making better or worse connection depending on temperature. The Suit
does seem to have stronger signals when it is warm; we've been thinking of
warmer tranceiver and batteries, perhaps instead a tighter connection? Wire
expands when it gets warm, after all. If so, the break must be external to
the suit in order to change temperature easily. At the antenna base,
perhaps?

So, disconnected antenna from space being received on the ground? If you
ask me, quite possible!
