I have a suggestion.

How about using a VOX recorder like 
http://xoomer.virgilio.it/aporcino/VoxRecorder/

You can ALSO use MMSSTV  http://mmhamsoft.ham-radio.ch/mmsstv/

This way you don't even have to be at home!
