Get another COM port! There's a description of this approach in the latest 
HRD manual http://www.ham-radio.ch/doc/Ham%20Radio%20Deluxe%2028-01-2006.pdf

Do not buy the cheapest USB <=>serial adapter you can find: get a 
recommendation first.

With two COM ports you'll be fine.
