I see from the G3VZV presenation on DATV for ARISS that the maximum slant
range is 1700 km and the path loss is 165 dB. At that range, 58 dBm (630 W)
EIRP produces -87 dBm at the receiver when using a 2 foot dish. A digital
downlink is necessary. Internet-style streaming video seems like a better
idea as the required bandwidth and power can be cut considerably.
