Re: AO-40

I've always wondered if the changes in noise level in response to commands
to AO-40 was repeatable or not. Please note, though, at this point, we have
no idea what attitude AO-40 is in (e.g. where its antennas are pointing).

However, occasionally, perigee is close to the 'States (or other control
station) and that might be a good time to do things like check for changes
in noise level. For example, we have a LEO-type pass over Orlando where
AO-40 is less than 3000 km away (see below). However, maybe it's just
the nature of KEPS, but i only see sub-3000 km passes through the beginning
of February.

My recollection from looking at the telemetry was that the main battery
voltage went through more than one period of instability, the last of
which was severe enought to leave AO-40 in an inaccessible state. I think
i have a full set of AO-40 telemetry, and CGI's to view it on-line (albeit
at the moment, not all of that data is accessible via the net). If anyone
want to look at this, please contact me and i can make sure this data is
on-line (at least when needed). [Those interested might also want to look
at: http://www/qsl.net/kd6pag/AO-40/PowerAnomoly.html]

Myself, i'd rather see energy put into getting Eagle and P3E launched. But
if someone thinks they have an idea that might revive AO-40, it might be
worth looking at it.
