Hi Allen:
Your calculations are correct. A 7.6758 crystal will give you a LO
frequency of 1965 MHz. and the downconverter will tune 2.4 GHz. with an IF
frequency of 435 MHz.
I have not tried using a 435 MHz. IF with the $6 downconverter yet, but I
have done this with the Drake downconverters as well as a couple of the AIDC
downconverters and it worked well. I believe that it will work with the $6
downconverter, but it may require some "tweaking" of the LO's crystal
oscillator.
I have some 7.6758 MHz. crystals (somewhere) that I had bought for use
in converting some AIDC downconverters. Once I find them, I will replace
the crystal in the $6 downconverter sometime in the next few weeks and will
post
my test results as soon as I can.

Woody
