I guess the only way you can correct ignorance is to educate.
AMSAT does a great job of this. 
http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/information/faqs/ is a good place to start.
Are there not enough FM repeater birds already?
I look forward to the CW/SSB HEO satellites. There are MANY LEOs
to use at this time, and most seem to be FM repeaters.. HI
