Better yet, put a bratwurst inside the PVC. If it's raw, the PVC blocks
RF. If it cooks, eat it!

RE using PCV pipe for a cross boom. Some PCV pipe is not invisible to
RF energy. Put a piece of the PCV in your microwave (with a glass of
water of course) and see if it heats up. If it does you might as well
go all the way and use a metal cross boom. As has been discussed, ad
infinitum, on here, if done correctly, the metal boom will be fine.
