Re: horizontal boom

This is the original article. I was opposed to using metal booms, until I 
read this article and talked with other experiences sat ops (like W0SL, Roy 
Welch) about it. I then tried it, and have never gone back to fibreglass 
since.

I use 1.5" EMT from the local Lowe's Hardware ...works perfectly. No more 
slipping, no measurable loss in performance.

BE CAREFUL TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE ARTICLE, TO THE LETTER!!!

Is is NOT sufficient to simply use the "X" configuration...boom to mast 
placement is critical (how far forward one mounts the 70cm antenna)

It works fine IF you follow the instructions.
