[amsat-bb] To be preamp or not?

When time come to choose between preamp brand the NF factor and gain are to be considered (there is an ideal mix?) At 437mhz 
we often see gain around 17db and NF .7db+ -. On the icom AG 35 the specs reported gain over 15DB! but nothing more.  Did 
anyone knows sources to check more precisely this preamp figures?
