RE: Airline Carryon
I went through a phase of carrying stuff checked in a Peli case (eg,
TS-2000, antennas, PSUs etc). About 1.5 years ago I even checked an HP8753
VNA from Raleigh-Durham to London Gatwick in a peli case.
Now however I tend to go for carryon if it's possible size and weight-wise,
primarily because I have had two occasions of checked baggage disappear
since 9/11 in the US only to reappear on the last day of my trip. At least
they reappeared!

Has anyone had any problem with a HF radio in your carry-on bag? I
want to take my Ft-857D with me. Debating about wrapping it in bubble
wrap and putting it in my checked bag (locked with TSA approved lock)
or taking it in my carry-on.
