Willam,
I suggest you look for used two way radio in the 400 to470 MHz range. Ist IF
is usally 10 to 22 MHz and the older units used crystal channel units that
could either be used as is or changed depending what IF you want. In the
U.S. these radios can often be had for free to $20.00 ea enploy helical
filters, and were built with quality parts.
